Kraken turbo kit
Hi everyone, i been looking into buying a turbo kit for my 1990 1.6 and now that i have all the other required parts(ecu, injectors etc) is time to make a desicion, i been looking at building a diy, or buying a bolt on and decided with kraken. My question is i've been seeing a couple of videos around the internet and some show that the downpipe don't quite fit and theres some grinding needing to be done. Maybe this is a long shot but can somebody chime in on this??. I'm going with there 2860 turbo just because i am building the bottom end at some point so don't want to buy a smaller turbo and then change again. Looks like a solid turbo kit just hesitant about that part.
Thank you
Thank you
It’s a pretty common problem not unique to Kraken. Anything with a full 3” exhaust has a potential fitment issue around the firewall shelf. You could have a local shop modify that section or get the 2.5” cast outlet and have a downpipe built to go to the remaining 3” exhaust. One other popular kit on this site used that approach to getting clearance and it works well. You might sacrifice a hundred RPM in spool threshold.
From his FB posts you should order it soon if planning on getting it with a 3” exhaust.
