I can only imagine that the 1.6 shares more heritage with the turbo version?

Everything I've gotten, right from MazdaComp, was single.

The last week I've noticed a lot of overshoot, but I'm not sure how full my rad is right now, just had everything apart.

Ordered one of these 180* dual thingie thermostats. It'll be weird to see my needle off the 160 mark after all these years. I hope I don't see it on the 210 mark now.

Kindly let us know the source, part number, and price if you could? I can't seem to find one other than OEM (i.e. mad bank for a dumb t-stat). ;)

part number as listed in this thread. Got it from MazdaComp for $10 with gasket (ok, like 17 with shipping and tax, but it's in the name of science)

People who don't take advantage of MazdaComp have small penises. And baldspots.

or they just pick it up at Rosenthal on their way to work and don't pay shipping. oh shnap.

look forward to see if it cures the overshoot.

Just changing thermostats did that. I noticed this a couple years back, which is when I switched. So I suspect it's an age thing (though I'll admit the mechanism remains a mystery to me).

The main part of this thermo has 193 stamped on it. Man, that's way hotter than I'm used to running, it will take a while to get used to the new position for the needle.

I wish I could find a dual stage in the 180* range? I don't know. I'll let you know what I find out.

Bumping old thread

This is my first post on miataturbo. I just bought a black 95 I plan to turbo. My last vehicle was a jeep srt8. The 160 thermostat would only be beneficial if the fan temps were also lowered.

Just changing the thermostat does nothing but prolong the engine from heating up. Combining a 160 degree tstat with the fans kicking on earlier = colder engine temp. This of course, is all assuming an MS can adjust the fans...that will be my first mod.

so.. your first post is to bump a thread that has not been posted to in half a decade.

You say your going to install a 160 degree stat when said 5 year old thread basically says not to..

ok...

Interesting

First mod being the MS...

Technically you can gain some HP by putting a 160 degree T stat with appropriate fan adjustments.

My direct experience says otherwise. I run a 195*F thermostat in my race car for a reason.

Welcome aboard.

Five years and three months. Not quite the all-time record, but a damn respectable effort.
