All I am saying is that if you buy a flywheel expecting a huge performance gain you will be disappointed. On an NA miata a difference MAY be felt in first or second, but on a boosted car it won't be noticeable from an acceleration standpoint. I love my flywheel and will have one on any performance car that own I was just trying to let the original poster know that if one is to be bought, buy it for the rev matching and throttle response... don't hope for a faster car.

you're right. the percentage increase in acceleration drops to a small number when you have >250rwhp.

but...

I love the way my car revs like a bike.

Stock 1.6 = ~16lbs
Spec 1.6 = ~8lbs

Not sure what the rotational inertia is

Your twin plate setup is smaller diameter isn't it? Is it 5.5"

Thanks guys. Well although I am replacing my standard clutch with an exedy one and I was goin got put in the lightweight fly it seems that its not worth the money. Got quoted $500AUD for a really good Billet one - so about $350US.
It seems that what people have said will now sway my decision. I can't justify spending all that cash if it's just going to make the throttle a bit more responsive...yes getting the power down on the road will be improved but only slighty and for that kind of money I'd rather spend it elsewhere. I've chosen to buy a Sparco race seat instead.
Thanks for all the information.

You can get some of the benefits with none of the downfalls if you have the stock flywheel balanced and lightened.

What is the weight on the Fidanza? I see that Ben's liking his - around 11 lbs.

We put an 8 lb on my friend's racing Turner and it's fine for the track, but pretty tricky on the street with traffic(and an on/off clutch). Anybody running 8# on a street Miata?

Save the $$$$ on a fly wheel and put it towards a good suspension setup or a good lightweight wheel/ tire combo. That is my opinion...
