Default LINK base timing check

I decided to throw a timing light on the car today just to check the timing. Hooked up light to plug wire one. 500 rpm setting is 11.5 degrees, and 1000rpm setting is set to 22 degrees. The car idles about 850 rpm. The timing I was reading on the wheel was 8 degrees I think. (Facing engine two marks to the right of the number 10)

If I want to check true base timing, can I make the 500rpm and 1000rpm zones zero and recheck with timing light? Does this sound like it will yield the results that I am looking for?

Not exactly sure where you got that procedure from,

But to reset timing for the link, go to the "IGN TRIM" screen on the keypad, and press both Edit Keys. The link then forces the timing to be at 10 degs, and then you can check the crank pulley with a timing light.
