just saw this on my local craigslist, anyone think its worth picking up? or the mentioned damage seems pretty bad?

i have no freaking idea thats why i posted it on here, ive been searching for the last 30 mins and have come up with nada, looks like a lost cause. I e-mailed him for larger pictures though. if anyone does have any of the necessary repair parts lmk.
its one of those things you don't "repair" cause not much else besides the stuff already broken can break so not only will it be near impossible to find another broken one, but even less probably to find one that's broken but with those teeth still intact.

tell him you'll take it for free, and if you try and buy the gears from Mazda....$$$$$ good luck. I wiped out the spider gears in my open diff, they were not cheap. I think I was looking at a little over $300 for 4 spider gears and the pin. Take it for free and get some money for scrap metal

According to the dealer parts catalog, you can purchase the gears, washers, pins etc for the open diff as service parts, however the Torsen diff is listed only as a complete assembly. There's also no rebuild procedure for it in the service manual, unlike the open diff.
