Manifolds

I have a 4g63 turbo that i wanna build my car with but cant seem to find a manifold for it! anyone know were to get one or what i should do?

You should buy a turbo for a manifold and not build a turbo setup around a turbo you happen to have laying around.

oh boy here we go

It is ironic how lacking the market is when it comes to Mazda/Mitsubishi flanged manifolds.

If you're dead-set on using whatever turbo shipped on the particular 4G63 engine that the guy who sold it to you puled it from, you'll need to enlist the services of a competent fabricator to weld up both an exhaust manifold and a downpipe for you.

After you get the price quotes back from a fab shop, compare them to what it would cost you to buy a complete package of manifold, turbocharger and downpipe from one of the vendors within the Miata community which sells such things, such as Bell Engineering, Flyin' Miata or Trackspeed Engineering, less whatever amount of money you're able to sell the existing turbo to some unsuspecting sap for on eBay.

Just swap in a 4G and call it a day.

This.

You've already got the turbo, how much more work could it possibly be?

I mean its just another inline 4, what could go wrong?

Wait, what application was a 4G63 turbo used in? Can't say I've heard of that turbo, but with a model number like that, it has to be pretty damn good!

If he's dead set on using the turbo AND has a 1.8, he can use a MSM exhaust manifold and turbine housing. Then spend a couple hours in a lathe opening up the turbine exit to fit the larger turbine wheel. Other than that, the V-band clamp is the same size and will work great. And can use any down pipe for a MSM.

The 14B turbo that came on manual 4G63s would work great on a 1.8. But the T25 that came on the automatics probably isn't worth the time. 16G is good too, but not worth it unless you're gonna run 20+ psi.

14b on manual 1st gen
13g on auto 1st gen
T25 on both 2nd gen

None of these would suck too terribly if there was a manifold that would work directly with them. Small, quick spool, and probably OK for 180-200whp. Not the latest technology, but still not horrible.

That being said, OP do some research before you walk away gaped and bloody.
