So you are inviting me/us to Kennedy school? Or saying no to my invitation?
I know what you're saying about my wife. I think of her in that way all the time. I assume others do as well even when they have the tact not to mention that they are. So Kennedy school evening of 8/23? Ed you in? Mass birthday party? |
No idea what Kennedy school is. I'm in for whatever as long as it's after I get off work and I can bring my wife. If I can bring my dog I can stay longer, otherwise my stay will be short because this little turd can't be in the house along for long in the evening.

Ed. Fuck. Use teh google. Kennedy School, McMenamins
|
That's two times that word has been directed at me in this thread. Must be doing something right!
Okie doke. Only I don't think Josh was inviting us. |
Total thread derailment. Apologies to OP.

To the PDX thread chat with you!

Doesn't matter to me. In other news, what the fuck is this shit?
04 MAZDASPEED Miata You'll remember the car I got screwed over with, posting is still up here: 2004 Mazdaspeed Miata with mods The fuck? Did someone buy the car out from under me with the intention of just reselling it? |
Sounds more like he didn't like your price and backed out of his original agreement using an interested third party as an excuse.

Went and saw this 70,000 mile...gem(?) this morning with Mobius.
2004 Mazdaspeed MX5 Miata Excellent condition Owner was super nice and easy to talk to. Bought it for his wife, but she doesn't like driving stick daily. He said they've put about 500 miles on it. So he's not in love with it, but probably not looking to loose much money off it. Drives great, just like the other MSMs I've driven. Although the shifter was considerably tighter in this one vs. the 157,000 mile one. But to be honest I couldn't otherwise tell the difference. Cosmetics were a little pathetic. Big chip/dent in the hood, apparently right after the PO bought it and was driving it down from Seattle. Head lights also need a polish. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1408907987\ Some spider cracking by the front lip, most likely a repaint. We couldn't find any damage under the hood, I'm fairly certain it was just resprayed to spiff up the paint, not necessarily for damage. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1408907987 Small tear in the driver's door card. I have some black ones for sale though. :dealwithit: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1408907987 Normal wear and tear on the shitty NB shift knobs. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1408907987 And there's no rust, but a fair bit of corrosion in the engine bay. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1408907987 Little bit of seepage from old CAS area. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1408907987 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1408907987 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1408907987 Soft top was recently replaced with a new cloth aftermarket unit. It still had a defroster, but the quality was sub par compared to an OEM unit. Just some fraying on the edges of the headliner really. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1408907987 Tires were in good shape, all four were Toyo Proxxes 4s with 20,000 miles on them. Wheels were another story, PO in Seattle, WA was apparently not good at parking safely. All 4 wheels were fairly well curb rashed. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1408907987 And last picture I took, a little wear on both inner door handles. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1408907987 My opinion: Would I buy it? Yes. It would take extensive detailing to make it acceptable though. Nothing like stains or anything, but a buff, headlight polish, vacuum and detailing of interior, and the biggest job would be all the engine bay work. Just dirty in general. Nothing screamed "I'm a 70,000 mile jewel!", but I wouldn't say it's lead a hard life, just not a super loved one. Only mechanical things I'd worry about would be the brakes, tires, timing belt, and clutch. At 70,000 miles the brakes could possibly be original, at 20,000 miles the tires are in great shape, but all four were less than 50%. And again at 70,000 miles, timing belt and clutch are most likely original. Clutch was noticeably heavier than my own NB, Mobius noticed it too, and I think he has an upgraded FM clutch or something similar in his. It engaged fine, but something to consider. I don't think a heavy clutch is a sign of early clutch failure though. Would I buy it for $10,500? Hell no. He said he priced it in the middle of what he saw online, which was $9-12k. He said there's some wiggle room in price, but honestly I probably wouldn't pay much over $8k for it. It'd be a "steal" at $7k, still a good deal at $8k. |
That is considered excellent condition? I would pay 7k.. maybe.
My 04 Ti was in waaaaaay better condition and I sold it for 8k to a local. He got the deal of the century. |
Thanks for the input. I agree it is way overpriced at above 10. I will see what I can do, but I am not sure I will be able to go with this one unless he will drop that price like it's hot.
I think it is going to be a decent waiting game to find a good MSM... |
Sounds like you're not insane.
That's good. I was gonna say: if I'm dropping 10k on any pre-06 miata, even if MSM, it better be showroom condition. |
This is about the only car I've seen priced appropriately. High mileage, but if it drives nicely and you're not afraid of fixing some rust (never dealt with it myself), $6800 seems like a steal? And it's been on for a while, so he might just take the first $6k someone walks up with.

I wouldn't give more than $4500 for that rusty pile o high-mileage junk. Rust sucks. NO.
By the time it's visible like that it's not worth fixing, just drive it into the ground. This red car is a $6500-7k car at best. Chilicharger -- you sold your car way way way way too cheap. I wanted it so bad but had JUST bought the GTO. OP: deals come up. Keep watching, you'll find one. |
