Because there is a national backorder on MMS mounts I am looking for alternative engine mounts. I stumbled across these when searching ebay for a set of MMS mounts.

90-97 Mazda Miata Megan Racing Reinforced Engine Mounts by: Megan

They are the same shape as the stockers, but hopefully made from a stiffer formula, a la MMS. I was hoping someone here might have had some actual personal experience with them.

I have had MMR mounts before, please don't mention them in this thread. If you have a set of new MMS FS, PM me. If you have comments regarding anything other than these mounts, go **** yourself and stay out of this thread. Those are my warnings. Any violations will be met with severe punishment.

Maybe I should go **** myself and stay out of this thread....but I'm commenting anyways since I was just in the same boat as yourself and feel it necessary to proffer advice.


I couldn't find the MMS mounts either, and definitely couldn't find any at a price I liked. I saw the Megan Racing ones, but wasn't at all sure about them, especially as they are the same price (or more) than the MMS, but with no rave reviews on every forum. My stockers were shot, and causing enough movement to miss 2-3 shifts, and also actually tugging on the engine ground! Needless to say I didn't want to wait.





So I made my own.




I've been meaning to do the write-up for a long time, and never got around to it. It's basically the windo-weld Honda crowd trick, but takes a little more effort due to the construction of our mounts.

If you're at all interested in this option let me know and I'll knock out a write-up.



Otherwise just notify a mod of my asshattery and this post should disappear after a refresh.

 

I had considered the window weld trick myself, but because of the shape of our mounts I knew it would only be surrounding the mount and not going into it. Please post a write up stat, including impressions.

You inventiveness has spared any punishment. If a writeup is not posted, then god help you.

 

Does anyone think using window weld to our Diff Mounts would ammount to anything. I Know our mounts rarly rip out, but going more solid. Would that have much affect. Ive ridden in a SOLID mout car and I could nearly feel every tooth , bump and grind of the R&P...

I've been running mine for two weeks, just been lazy on the write-up...started it a couple of hours ago, but then my boss came in.

I like 'em so far...just can't report on durability yet.

 

i would stick with the mmr's dudue be a man. For 100 bucks its worth a shot they look legit.

 

My diff and motor mounts are window welded style. Solid as **** and holding up well so far (like 4-5 months)

Have YOU tried them? They're a chunk of delrin with a piece of allthread running though. I only made it three weeks.

 

That was the best price I saw save for TDR's.

Plus, if you need these, there's probably atleast one other parts you need from either of those vendors that you could have put in the same box to save on shipping (like some 949R endlinks).

Nice writeup Go. Finishline lists the MMS mounts for like $70 shipped. Unfortunately they don't have them in stock and can't get them. Tommy there said that he doesn't know when they will be able to order them.

As far as the megan mounts. I was doing some research and found another random supplier with a mount looking similar with a similar description. So they are both getting them from the same place. Some more searching turned up Hard-Race in Japan is making rubber motor mounts for the miata now. They are big in the honda world for their rubber bushings in race applications. So I know that they are legit. The issue is still that they cost like $100 shipped.

I'm tempted to to the 3M window weld mounts now.

 

Dean (dc2696brokendrivetrainparts) has put more miles on his, so I'd like to know exactly how he made his.

I've put about 1500miles on my, half highway, half twisties.

 

I just took the mount apart and cleaned everything with brake cleaner. Then I filled the spaces on the rubber part wih the 3M. Put the rubber piece into the metal housing, then filled the whole thing up with 3M.

Let it sit in a heated area for a week to ensure it fully sets, now watch your **** vibrate and rattle to hell lol.

I've had mine going strong all summer so far. Def better than delrin mounts, those things are unbearable on the street.

So you left the rubber, but then also filled the plastic cups...

How many tubes did that take?

 

I didn't leave the rubber per say, I filled the gaps in the rubber so it has less rom to flex. These plastic cups I asume are the other half of the mount? Mine are steel, and yes I filled everything up with 3M. Everywhere there is space is filled with winowweld.

You need just over 1 tube, so buy 2.
