Default Miata Acronym Dictionary

I've done a lot of searching in the past to understand the various acronyms, so I thought it might be a good idea to have a single thread that contains the various acronyms related to Miatas and this forum (I used the search to try and find if this already existed).

I'd be happy to alphabetize and compile all the submissions into the first post in this thread to make it more readable.

So post the acronyms you know - or just flame me (esp. Hustler)...whichever

Aloha!

Except me Mitch. If it's any consolation; the first time I mentioned FI (Forced Induction) I put F1. Accronysms are a pain in the *** for every single foreigner.

I still recall my first Economics class at Tampa U. I was doing fine with what the professor was explaining until he mentioned "FDR"; I spent the next 10 minutes racking my brain trying to find out what that could mean. You should have seen the laugh on his face at the end of the class when I asked him!

This thread will be a useful reference for me. Many thanks.

FWIW, ETG should be EGT - Exhaust Gas Temp, Momo does not stand for Moss Motors. HTH

And BFH isn't big hammer unless you are on m.net. There's an f in there and that is exactly what Hustler will do to you if you don't add your location to your details.

Mahalo.

A lot of the acronyms are made up, probably by the author of the list.
A bunch more are bowdlerized and not really very useful as explanations. For example, explanations that obscure strong language.

Have uncensored the list. Will put in a spreadsheet to keep organized when I get home.

Hustler,

I'm kind of disappointed. I was hoping for something more....poetic. Maybe your poetry is in its simplicity here.

I have never heard of people abbreviating away the word "gauge." To be honest, the only abbreviation I've heard regularly in regards to gauges "EGT gauge." Most people use "oil temp," "coolant temp" when talking about gauges and let you figure out that it is a gauge from context. The acronym "ETG" for Exhaust Temperature Gauge is so obviously not a proper acronym that it throws the whole list into doubt.

Also the following are either retarded or they mean things other than what has been written. For example "Momo" is actually a company that makes aftermarket interior products and FTD usually means "fastest time of the day." I hereby request that the following be removed or corrected (mostly just reemove tho):
AFU - all hosed up
BH - big hammer
BFH - big hammer
BS - bull dinky
BSEG - big grin
BTDT - been there done that
BTT - back to top
CIOEA - cut it out, enough already
CTA - check the archives
DFTFT - Don't feed the trolls
ETG - exhaust temp gauge
EYHO - eat your heart out
FPG - fuel pressure gauge
FTD - fixin' to die
HBD - has been drinking
HTH - hope this helps
MOMO - Moss Motors
MS - more of same
MSU - Miata spending unit
MSV - Miata support vehicle
PO - previous owner
RB - racing beat
SOP - seat of pants (SOP usually stands for standard operating procedure, just delete this)
SSDD - same stuff, different day (or change to "same **** different day")
TCTS - to change the subject
TIA - thanks in advance
TMF - two Miata family!
TMI - too much information
VBG - very big grin
