glad to see you guys got it done and he didnt get rid of it
you guys did a great job, looks good, now get the thing painted

what is worse to cut CF or fiberglass? when i gut the CF i did NOT have to sand or refinish anything, it cut realy smooth, how did the fiberglass do...? im curious, i want to experment with some stuff, just dont have the time yet

Braineack 12-03-2007 11:07 AM

both probably easy enough to cut, it cut like butter with my air rotary tool. some of the edges weren't smooth because the wheel i sued was thicker, but it sanded down like clay, very easy to work with.

Zabac 12-03-2007 11:09 AM

cool, thanks for the info, i never cut fiberglass before

rappadan 12-03-2007 07:46 PM

man, mine looks like shit compared to everyone elses. Its all good all i did was scuff it up and paint it. Someone else did all the cutting before i got it.

AEROCATCH Hood pins FTW!!!!!!!!!!!

if it fits a direct fit for the 1.6L miata i'm ordering it by this weekend if you guys know and trust the guy selling it :)

Braineack 12-04-2007 08:57 AM

obvious it's not a direct fit....three examples above.

Ben 12-04-2007 10:31 AM

Dan, don't sweat it bro. Yours looks better than mine. :)

You need to clearance the area above the timing belt cover, especially so with 90-93 chassis with 1.8 motors. It *should* drop into a 90-93 with stock motor, but I believe Brad is running a 1.6 so...

whaaamx5 clearanced his to fit, his (94 or 95) with 1.8 motor and it looks and fits fine.

i thought ben said it would drop into a 90-93 stock motor

Braineack 12-04-2007 07:45 PM

that's my motor in the pics. it's a stock 1.6 with stock motor mounts. rappandan's is a 1.6l with mmr motor mounts, actually lower than stock.
...dunno what to tell you.

Ben 12-04-2007 08:13 PM

well it's supposed to fit a 1.6, but uhm, :dunno:

yuk i hate louvers, why cant it just be an extraction hood. i don't even see where the louvers will do anything.

im simply going to ducttape this onto a stock hood:

Ben 12-05-2007 09:26 AM

that hood would have been awesome if he hadn't gone all club roadster with the shark gills. it's too bad he didn't ask for design input from people who aren't complete retards.

Newbsauce 12-05-2007 09:38 AM

Yeah I like how he accepted community input, I do not like how he only accepted input from CR.net fanboys.

Ben 12-05-2007 09:42 AM

and then he went off on emilio, when emilio asked him if the shark gills could be removed or relocated.

Braineack 12-05-2007 09:47 AM

you guys are idiots. you gotta do something to cool your cams. opening up gills over a high pressure zone is the best way!

Newbsauce 12-05-2007 09:48 AM

Haha could always fiberglass the gills shut ;) Thats just a bit more effort then I'm willing to spend on it though. IMO the only car that looks good w/ those type of "gills" are the s2ks.

Wait wait, I've got it. Fish have gills right (a)? Fish use the gills to breathe underwater! Therefore if a car has gills it can certainly breathe underwater!
