Is this miata worth buying?

I do believe Y8S was speaking of you , not the car......:gay:
Ah, come on back here girl.
The car was overpriced and you don't know the true condition of it. It was worth $2,500 max. More like $2,200 - You might be able to get it cheaper.
It is from Chicago and it was a repaint. The first thing I would check would be underbody and rocker panels in front of the rear wheels for rust. A Magnet test works pretty good. An engine swap is kinda iffy unless you trust the swapper. I would never trust anyone that says this or that engine came from a car with XXXX miles on it. (Take a full compression test and leakdown)
Email the EBAY SELLER (eddy770) on the ask questions of seller part at EBAY link and find out if the car is still in his possession. Ask hin how much he will take for the car. Get back to us to keep us updated.

Lola, we both know it's hard to value a car based off it's upgrades, but I think your $2200 appraisal is a bit on the low side. That is, unless the car does turn out to be a rust bucket.
I would say $3k, maybe a little more right now with the summer season adjustment. Again, assuming the car is not a rust bucket.
The car with the torsen, tsi's, extra bracing, etc certainly does look like it should have a turbo.

Ben -
I'm assuming it is a rust bucket with fresh make-up.
If it is NO RUST, then yes, the car may be worth up to $4K - That is if the cobble together is properly performed - And only a visual inspection and a lift could possibly tell.

Melissa, you may not like that ACT XT clutch very much. Depends on your inseem, leg strenght and shifting abilities. You're looking at a heavy pedal and a short engagement period.
IMO, however, that car may be an ideal platform to turbocharge. But it's easy to make a ***** look like a princess in internet pics. I wouldn't buy it w/o seeing it and getting a buyer's inspection. The platform does have 190k miles on it, despite the milage of the drivetrain. Stuff does wear out.

Lola, if it is a rustbucket, $2200 is too much. Really the only thing an old miata has going for it is condition of the body. Everything else is cheap and easy to replace.
So.... Pics or ban ... ??

I asked the seller for a price, he said he'd be happy with $3k. I might swing by and have it inspected at a shop, then show up with $2500 and see what he says. Is that a good plan?
what about this one?

It looks like the body will need some minor work(i see some scratches on the bumper), but it has a lot less miles and it's newer too. Pics are crap, but it looks like the Top looks like it might need replacing down the road.
what do you guys think? I'm initially turned off b/c it's a dealer.

Once again - The main thing to look for is RUST.
P.S. You are right about dealers. A bunch of puss suckers. Don't let them shake you down - Keep zippers on your pockets!!:gay:
