I have thought about this on several occasions, as it would certainly make for a featherlight autocross beast.
What I worried about was the transmission pushing a 1800 lbs vehicle with lots of tire on it. Even with a built transmission you probably couldnt make those big turbo numbers like the drag busas do.

I just looked at the pretty pictures :/

edit:
I saw the bellhousing adapter deal, I was more referring to being a cheap *** and having the driveshaft connecting to the bike trans like they do with the locost super 7s.
If youre going to go through that kind of trouble I wouldnt bother putting an engine like that into a miata chassis that could never compare to putting that kind of power into a real race chassis designed for the engine, like the radical.

I bet it takes more work/money and will be slower than everyone that runs in the unlimited class for the miata challenge. So it saves 100lbs thats alot but ive cut that out in other places and it didnt cost me more than a $2 cut off wheel or firing up the plasma.

Old news dude, but still cool. If I had money this would be the swap I would do. But if the tranny couldn't hold like people are suspecting then I would be all over a MSM motor swap, or just build the 1.8 I have. wait wait wait..... I hate day dreaming, cause it just makes me realize what money I don't have. **** my life.

Okay Uncle Sam, jokes over... can I get more rank please?

What would be better? 2 hayabusa engines, i was pipedreaming one day, and looking at powertec v8's and realized that no miata owner would ever cough up the dough for it, but that would be the dream engine for our car i think.

depending on cost this might actually be a very interesting swap idea. it might not be the fastest miata or the lightest but it deffinatly would be a cool idea

The engine/trans adapter came out sexay. That is a lot of machine time... there is talk of tooling up a cast version down the road.

Default Busa power

A buddy of mine has a turbo Busa in a mountain sled and the sound of the thing will wet your shorts.

Definitely, I swear there is a "crazy australian w/ welder" version out there that might be more "miata community"-friendly.

Also, that transmission adapter is sweet, i feel like there's a pun to be had from those deep pocket cuts...
