Default Mishimoto/Godspeed/Cxracing radiators: Are they identical?

There's even a new one by "blackworks." I'm going to buy one of these but I suspect they are all made in one factory somewhere in China. They look the same, they have very similar dimensions but are priced differently. Can anyone confirm that they are all indeed the same radiator?

No, I can't confirm that, but I can say that I have been using a CXracing one in my SM race car with no problems.

No they are not identical.

I compared my Mishi to a Godspeed, and mine is much nicer. However, I did have to go through three before i got one without a leak, but thats just jewish luck for you.

^And you had one of the first production runs right? I think as Mishi started getting a bunch returned for being ****, they upped their production values a bunch. I havent heard of anybody sending one back in a long time.

OK here's the side-by-side:

I really see no difference. The only real difference is found in the ad text: Only the Mishimoto mentions a radiator cap even though every radiator is pictured with one except the godspeed. Mishimoto mentions a 1 year warranty, Godspeed mentions a 90 day warranty & others do not mention warranties at all.

Prices on ebay are as follows:
Blackworks $219 + $10 insurance = $229 shipped
Mishimoto $240 + $21 CA tax = $261 shipped
CXracing $133 + $31 shipping + $16 CA tax = $180 shipped
Godspeed $160 + $40 shipping + $16.50 CA tax = $216.50 shipped

I'd say anyone in the market specifically for a Mishimoto clearly should get it from Travis at $230 shipped. OTOH, if you believe these radiators are all the same like I do, the CXracing radiator is the clear value. And as much as I'd like to support vendors, a $50 difference is too much.

I think the godspeed is the only different one. All others come with a partial mounting bracket that you can see in those pictures.

Nicer how? Weight? Weld quality? Fitting? Finish?

Apparently QC on the Mishimoto is not so good.

I can't really tell if that's the rediator, or just the way the picture is cropped tho...

Welding quality seems to be better on my latest unit and its a lot better compared to the GS I saw in a friends car.

The fit between the 3 units was always the same, it just dropped right in. Weight was same as well.

Yea, I got it right as it was offered here on a GP. Within a week it developed a leaking water neck, and weld on the top tank. The replacement I got started leaking between the fins around the bottom tank within a month. This third one, knock on wood hail allah is still holding and seems to be made better.

Despite the inconvenience, the guys over at turbochargers.com were ready and willing to get it exchanged and so were the guys over at mishimoto. I can only say positive things about dealing with them.

Its a gamble with cheap stuff, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.

do yourself a favor and get a massive sprint-car radiator. You can get a large universal Ron Davis for $300, then get aluminum mounts welded to it.

Oil temps were high, but that's expected with no ducting. I still need to put on the vented hood, but I had to turn the fans on on the 3rd session at 90* ambient...with the bottom of the radiator ducting breaking out (zip tied to the bumper). So basically, with totally inneffective ducting I had no water temp problems.

I have the CXRacing rad on my '04. It's fine. Only thing I had to do is use slim fans and make new top brackets, because of rubbing against the a/c condenser.
