Mishimoto radiator install

3 Attachment(s)
Installed my Mishimoto radiator tonight and thought I would say a little about it.

First of all it is a pain in the ... taking out the lower fan mounts if you don't take off the plastic splash guard on the bottom. And also make sure when your putting it back together you grab the right fan for the right side :crx:

Fitment of the radiator was great. I only had to make 1 small modification to the hook mounts at the bottom that hold the radiator. I just took a hammer and gave each a couple small hits to bend them towards the wheels to allow the radiator to slide down. I let the car run for about 30min while I cleaned up watching for leaks and so far so good. Major test will be my hr commute in the morning...:noes: Total install time was 4hrs. This was my first time ever installing a radiator and so far the most engine work I have done on my own.

Will get some pics tomorrow in the daylight.

And in this pic I have circled the mount that needed a slight adjustment to make the radiator fit.

Don't feel bad....took me as long first time, i blew thru pulling the old....everything went perfect till I got to the same rad hooks. Got it in wrestling, which I later realized forced the rad hooks same way you described. Upon now pulling my motor, I paid attention and bent them to the perfect orientation...piece of cake from now on.

FYI if I'm not mistaken you'll wanna make sure to test or get a better cap....I wanna say 14psi is what you want it to hold, surely someone will come in and elaborate.

Emjoy

Good thing you didn't type out "pain in the ass." That might offend someone.

so what you're saying is the rad is great for the money, fitment is good, and overall nothing real to complain about besides your own stupid wrenching mistakes?

that's good:)

Or I choose for my personal reasons not to. But I'm glad I didn't offend you so for that reason alone I am satisfied with my decision.

Yep so far so good. After my 50mile interstate commute no leaks or anything to speak of.

Looks nice. Glad it wasn't too much of a pain to install.

My Mishi has been great. I guess I've had it a year and a half.

I just put one in my NB. Very easy to install and fits a lot better than people seem to say. I had to bend the ac condenser brackets and cut the very bottom corner of the fan off where the ps lines run by. I'm gonna put some pictures up of the install soon, probably in my build thread
