Default Mtxl installed stock ecu running lean wot

I have done some searching around but I haven't really found a similar situation not to mention how saturated the topic of widebands are, so let me add another.

Just finished installing my mtxl on my 99 stock ecu in preparation for megasquirt. Power split with cig lighter and grounded on the intake manifold. The car steadily targets 14.7 on idle but blips over to 26.4 or full lean off throttle and while shifting. The real issue is when I tried giving it the beans it richened up and then instantly shot to full lean which in turn killed my power immediately. I turned around and drove straight home.

After some reading it seems like an exhaust leak would affect my idle but not wot. Does this sound like a noise issue or possibly a bad sensor? I contacted innovate and they told me to remove my wideband and hold a lighter(just butane no flame) to it and see if it reads 14.7 but not what to with it if it does or doesn't?

Any and and all help will be greatly appreciated so thank you in advance

Are you saying:

A) The meter showed lean so you lifted the throttle; or
B) That you kept your foot down and observed (2) things occurring: Meter showed lean and power felt off?

Thanks for the response I'm ashamed to admit I figured that out this morning. I was so focused on the gauge that I hit revlimiter lifted off and saw full lean :( I guess I was surprised I did everything right for once so I created a problem. Thanks again for taking the time to school a noob like me

EDIT: misread your question but the above still applies it was just me being dumb and everything's working as it should.
