Default My Happy Meal Exploded

Well it looks like my FM clutch decided to jump ship on me yesterday. I pulled the transmission expecting to find a bad pilot or throwout bearing, but the disk itself decided to take a dump. The pressure plate seems okay, it only has a few knicks and scratches.

I've honestly never heard of one of these failing before, I wasn't sure if its happened to anyone else.

happened to another car of mine, acura rsx, like 10 years ago.

my guess is due to lots of wheel hop/shock loading

This one has mostly been used for highway commuting. Very little drag strip time, but I'm certainly not to say it doesn't get driven hard.

At this point I'm tempted to just toss in the stock disk with FM pressure plate and see what happens.

How many miles on it? It looks like it has a lot of life left on it. If it was not abused, it could be a defective unit. You might want to contact FM about it.

The clutch did have a bit of mileage on it, but almost none of it was stop and go. I commute roughly 150 miles a day for work. The disk looked pretty much brand new. As did the pressure plate and flywheel.... No hot spots/bluing or abnormal wear.

I had planned on calling them Monday. But realistically, Its a wear item on a heavily modified car that has been used for over a year. So I'm not expecting much.
