I found a post buy hustler from a while ago asking this similar question, but no answered him.

Can someone confirm that the 1.6 bracket is very beefy, while the 1.8 bracket attaches tot he water pump? They both use the same tensioner.

If this is the case and the 1.6 bracket doesn't fit on the 1.8, what mounts to the holes on under the intake manifold on the 1.8 blocks?

What mounts here on the 1.8? On the 1.6 the alternator bracket mounted here.

 

Nothing bolts to that location on a 1.8 either, I believe that might be used in either the protege application or 323 application for something.
