Are NB1 (1999-2000) body panels, bumpers and doors exactly the same as NB2?

Default Are NB1 (1999-2000) body panels, bumpers and doors exactly the same as NB2?

I need to replace the driver side door which was dented by a big truck wheel on our 99 Miata. While we are out it and something is going to be painted I might as well fix the small ding in the driver side rear quarter panel and the front bumper cover. So I wondered if someone could confirm for me that 2001-2005 NB2 parts are exactly the same as NB1, I need to purchase a salvage driver door, rear driver side quarter panel, front and back bumper covers. If I get confirmation here I know I can use 99-05 cars for salvage body parts.

Thanks in advance!

The 99-00 front bumper cover is different than the 01-05. If you're going to replace the front bumper cover anyway, I would consider getting an 01-05 one and upgrading to the superior 01-05 headlights, which only fit correctly with that bumper cover.

Fitment is the same, but there are a few subtle differences. Take door panels for instance, I don't think the 99-00 came with a lock "button" on the door pull, but I'm pretty sure 01+ does have one there.

Correct. And the panels are not easily swappable.

One reason the panels don't swap easily is that the inner door pull is in a different spot on the NB2, which would make the door not exactly the same. It could be made to work but if you want plug and play, it's not 100% the same. AFAIK that is the largest difference in the door shell though.

Interior latch is in different location as well, necessitating some weirdness with linkage.
