So I cant tell if this is an old cartech fmu or fpr. i got it with a whole bunch of parts and thinking about selling it. so help a noob out

Sounds like you know exactly what you have and are trying to sell it in the wrong section... I cant remember if this forum has a minimum post count for the classifieds that you may or may not meet, but if that is the case, prepare for hate.

 

I mean yes and no. Im not sure if I want to sale these items or not. Im probably going to go megasquirt so i might sell in the future but as of right now i want to know what i got and what its generally worth and how does it work.

As for the cartech i dont know how to tell the difference between the fpr and fmu. I know how a fpr works but i really dont understand what exactly an fmu does. from what i read is it gives more gas to the injectors under boost. Ive seen it called bandaids before (is that because its a temporary system to you get a standalone). so im guessing you take off the stock fpr and put this one inline in its place?? I also dont know if it still works or not. it came in a box with a begi fmu so i dont know if it went bad or the previous owner wanted to up grade. so is there any way to test these devices to make sure they are working properly.

as for the miata safe guard from J&S im assuming that it basically retards or advances the ignition timing under boost to help eliminate detonation. But does it do any thing else. I was also wondering how out dated is this thing is. I know ive seen these before but i dont even know if they still sell them or if its even worth selling. If i go megasquirt i wont need this because it should do all of that in a tune correct??

any ways maybe it is in the wrong section if the mods move it i wont be mad. its there job to help noobs out like me and point me in the right direction. I really should have wrote more on what i was looking for in this thread but it was one of those 3 in the morning "hey i think im just gonna post this up and see whats going on" kinda things.
