cool. SSD drive, ftw. too bad it's only a 4 gb though. It's a fairly limited platform, but for certain uses, i'm sure it's great.

Why limited? HD size yes I guess, the 8gb with 1g ram model is coming also for 499 I believe.

It is fully capable of running windows XP also.

For the price... its quite a nice little package.

I used to use a Toshibra Libretto back in the day, about the size of a VCR tape. If all you need is a 1st gen Pentium they can be had for ~$50 on Ebay.

I would say if you really want a portable PC for tuning the MS you really should look into the OQO.

http://www.oqo.com/

Its even smaller, but more expensive.

That would be the killer. I just found this new ultraportable to be a nice balance of size and price, with alot of features.

Has full real keyboard... smaller... but full :P
Has a solid state drive... ie: FAST STARTUP (ideal in a car) and its robust
Useable screen size
Wifi and other things that are convinent to have for normal day to day useage also.

ie: this would make a great 2nd computer/laptop... that would be nice to use for tuning ... and still useable for other things.

MegaTunix is the linux megasquirt tuner. The systems can also have XP installed and run without issue.

Also... its the 2nd highest model. The 1gb ram and 8gb solid state drive is coming soon. I believe they are doing 199/299/399/499 as their price breakdown.

then why windows at all?

ITs not a bad solution, but I would rather do a palm for data logging and whatever laptop I have for tuning.

I'll be all over a $200 one, hells ya. I was reading about them on he web yesterday though and someone mentioned that they were not able to meet their initial $200 price point. Maybe within the next year though.
