well had my first bad experience with nitrous in 5 years or so the other night at the track. i fucked up and was spraying out the hole, and bogged the launch so i yea nitrous backfire. there was a loud pop and flames came from under my hood, it was actually pretty cool looking. no real damage was done other than it blew my intake in half and i need to get a new maf cause that is broken as well. just thought i would share this,has anyone else had nitrous backfire? if so what happened?

I used to run a 2 stage wet system on an 95 Civic with a H22 swap. I hit it pretty hard out of the hole and saw a flash from the engine bay. It looked like a bomb went off under my hood, followed by a huge loss in power. I still beat the turbo dsm by a few cars. The car was sounding pretty rough, like three cylinders rough. I limped it home and tore down the engine where I later found I had blown the ring landings out of my #3 piston. The pop also burnt a tennis ball sided hole in my air filter.

 

 

I've never experience this... But then again I don't run nitrous. You can buy my RX7 AFM. It's for sale.

 

I had a nitrous backfire, on a small block ford, when the wiring came loose on the fuel solenoid. Loud bang, fire, and an overall unpleasant sensation.

Are you sure you did not have a similar problem? Fuel solenoid working properyl? Fuel system problems?

 

I'm sure of what happened no big deal.
