Question about the oil filter sandwich adaptor plates and the 1.6 block.

I've read a few old threads where peeps had issues with a sandwich adaptor on a 1.6L b/c there is no oil/water cooler (unlike the 1.8L) to act as a spacer between the block and the adaptor. So what ends up happening is that the adaptor fits fine, but they can't attach anything onto it b/c the block interferes. IIRC that's why FM runs a spacer for the 1.6 with their mocal setup. Just wondering if people have had sucess with a specific adaptor plate on the 1.6L. Thanks. FWIW, this would be to add an oil cooler and maybe one temp/pressure gauge.
