Hi guys,

Ran into a weird issue on assembling an engine. The oil pan gasket in the rear keeps trying to bulge out where the locator tab goes.

Any advice? I've cleaned and removed/replaced the pan 3x so far, and I'm really tired of pulling/replacing it.

 

Correct gasket for the oil pan? Some years were different.

 

We'll have to see pictures of both. Your bulge and the gasket.

 

I believe it calls for RTV in addition to the gasket. Overtorquing it?

 

 

Tried two different gaskets, one for 94-97, one for 01-05 now.

RTV is of course on. It was definitely overtorqued the first time. It's at something like 2-3 ft/lbs now and trying to bulge as is.
