Pressing out Diff bushings..1000psi and no movement..

So the last part of the rx7 lsd adventure is here. I dropped the diff off at a local performance shop to get them pressed out of the rx7 diff and the miata ones out of the miata housing and swap them in.

So they call me yesterday and say that they've put all they want (in terms of pressure) and they haven't budged(miata ones that is). So any one have any idea how to get them out, tips, tricks?

If not I'm just going to cut the housing and get them out and destroy the rx7 ones as they aren't coming out to easily either.:vash:

air chisel/hammer works.

zoom2zoom 12-16-2006 01:51 PM

you need vibration and slight pressure.

dc2696 12-16-2006 02:31 PM

Vibration..How?

destroy DE STROY

they are a pain but a little fire and a little drilling go a long way.

(fire turn rubber to carbon dust)

dc2696 12-17-2006 04:15 AM

How do I get the good ones out though??? I don't really wanna cut the housing if I don't have too..

bripab007 12-17-2006 09:15 AM

You're trying to get them out in order to re-use them? Man, see, I'd just buy new ones. As you've found, I'd think it'd be crazy difficult getting them out w/o destroying them.

y8s 12-17-2006 10:10 AM

yeah, damn. corksport some new ms diff mounts or sumpin

Jefe 12-17-2006 11:16 AM

I wear a respirator and just cut them out with a torch....But I'm lazy...

dc2696 12-17-2006 01:43 PM

Shit I thought I could get away with reusing them as they're in good shape...80bux a piece for new ones...:(

Thanks guys looks like I'll just order something up, atleast removal will b nice and easy lol.

80 each!? i thought they were 100 for a set. anyway, i saw some used stockers on ebay for like 20 bucks. i'll do that or try to reuse the mounts out of my 1.6 diff. no way i'm paying 100$ for diff mounts.

Virus 12-17-2006 03:34 PM

Goodwin - $99.95 for a pair

Edit: Oops...you are in Canada. So $115.682 CAD.

I have two 1.6 diffs so I was going to chop one up and use the bushings, but it would prolly be a pita..

I got mine out by banging with a BFH.
