Just ordered some parts from miataroadster.com, they’ve got a great selection of unique parts and venders. Bill Wilner, the owner, runs a great site, unbelievable communication and really goes the extra mile for you.

After checking out his site at the suggestion of another miataturbonet member, I ordered some parts, including a set of Mazdaspeed motor mounts, he emailed me back immediately to tell me that he was out of stock, but he would check around for me. I had told him I wanted them by Saturday because I’m tapping into the oil pan for my turbo oil return, and thought as long as I was under there I should go ahead and replace the motor mounts. It seems like everybody is out of stock, finally got the last set that Corksport had, and I’ll have them by Saturday.

Check out his site, like I said, some interesting stuff, like the heat extraction hood riser kit, only 10 bucks, a cheap way to cool your engine compartment down.

He’s got parts and links from everywhere, from low cost parts to really high-end stuff, in some cases you get redirected to different sites and may end up on a site from Japan, you let him know what you want, and he gets it for you.

Sorry, but that's not true.... it does not extract air from the engine bay. Right below the windshield is a high pressure zone.

Agree with crashnscar about the hood risers, the logic is backwards. Plus, it's only about $6 worth of hardware at ACE.

Sorry, but you're wrong, if you had taken the time to look at his site, you'd have seen that there is a link to ImportTuner magazine's website, they did a review/test, because of just that kind of thinking. Their testing did show reduced underhood air temps, both while standing still and at speed. And yes, you could comb through Ace and get the parts for $6, plus tax, plus you're time trying to make it work. Less than $4, that's a big savings.

Their probably are decreased temps while standing still, but at speed the high pressure zone created on the windsheild causes backwards flow into the engine bay and DRMATICALLY decreases cooling efficicnecy.
This has been proven MANY TIMES.

As for combing through ACE, please dude. Unbolt a hood nut, take it into the store. Get a threaded spacer and a bolt in the same thread. Done. I did it a few years ago when I was a bit more of a ricer than I profess to be now. If walking into a store and buying a handful of hardware seems too difficult, Miataturbo.net isn't for you. There are other sites out there to cater to the checkbook racers.

As for ripping on a vendor, I'm not doing that. As I stated, I've supported this vendor, and I agree with the OP that they offer some unique products. When a vendor here offers a product that doesn't seem to fit with good sense, we call them on it. We don't protect them no matter what like other sites might do, and IMHO it's much better this way. You know then, that if a company is a vendor here, they have passed the litmus test.

Why is MiataRoadster fail? I have bought plenty of stuff from Bill and its always a good price and ships on time. I think you are talking out of your ass on this one. Only bad experience was a back order WB wheel hub. They offer a lot of good products that you can't find in other places. Good site even if they do sell a hood lift kit. It's not their fault people are stupid enough to buy them, its money in their pocket and thats the name of the game.

i hate to pee in your haterade, cuz it was pretty awesome. but my hood is spaced and for sure it lowers temps at a standstill, and also did a smoke test at 70mph and air does come out of there (and flowed over my winshield without a problem. maybe it's because of my frt. splitter, or the fact that at the track my turn signals are out, but it did work. i don't know what happens at 100mph, but my car never got hot at the track and it still doesn't. to me, if it saves me from replacing my harness or harness clips for a little while longer it was worth $3 in bolts and washers. :2cents:

I've had so many bad experiences with vendors lately that it's great to hear that someone still understands customer service. If more people posted reviews like this I could have avoided a lot of the issues I've run into.

I recently had a good expeirence with the vendor in the break room. It gave me a nice refreshing Mountain Dew.

Seriously though, after everything I've read and seen about the hood riser cooling idea I still don't buy it. I can't recall any of the seasoned racers here on mt.net that use them let alone any sponsored or professional race cars which see this as a viable cooling solution. I have seen a great deal of ricers subscribe to this bullshit though. I don't think that anyone is arguing that air does not enter or will not exit with the hood risers. Sure smoke will exit, but don't expect that to be the be all end all test of the overall mechanics of this system. Overall you increase the under hood pressures which reduces the air temps but also reduces flow through the heat exchangers.

I like how these people with ugly hood lift thingies fail to understand that although temperatures lower under the hood with the vent, its because the air getting sucked-in from there is colder than the air that's been through the radiator.

i don't know on the track - like i said i've never had any cooling issues either way. but it absolutely makes a difference in daily driving conditions. and until recently it was my only car so it sees alot more street miles in s. texas heat than track miles. i've already had to replace many plastic clips/connectors and wiring due to underhood heat, and been broke down because of it, which sucks. so if it helps at all, it's worth it to me. personally, i hate the way it looks. i would much rather have a custom vented hood. but i can only spend 500-600 per month.
which isn't alot when you consider the cost of a trackday, gas, replacement parts like brake pads, oil, filter's, plugs, tires, gaskets, blah,blah,blah. dammit, i try not to think about that shit! lol........ see what you did!

When I had issues with my Works Bell hub adapter I contacted Bill nearly weekly bothering the shit out of him I'm sure and he responded to every email within a day and was never rude. That went on for nearly 2 months until WB started shipping hubs from Japan again.
