Has anyone heard anything about upcoming changes to racing seats regarding back support rrequirements. I know that Super Miata is requiring the HALO effective January 2019. What is the rule regarding back supports for racing suits as of now? Any info is appreciated.

Current rules for most organizations is FIA rated or add a back brace. Need a back brace after the FIA rating expires.

I do remember reading a proposal that all seats would require a back brace.

Seems there was some discussion as many fiberglass/carbon seats are not designed for a brace or having holes drilled between your shoulders.

At least one seat manufacturer came out with a solid recommendation against it, as it would be stress beyond design tolerances.
