I searched and found squat in the last 6 months.

So I have owned my 1992 for 2.5 years and its rarely if ever driven in the rain so I don't know if it does not leak or I just never noticed. But my 2000 I just got a month ago is like living in a terrarium, its moist and the carpet is wet and in good rain it drips on my left knee, this sucks! So I can't be the only one with these problems.

To day was the last straw, I took out the spare tire to remount it correctly and just have not had a chance to put it back in. I took the car out for a drive the other day and placed my laptop in the trunk (in the tire well) and forgot about it. Last night and today it poured! I went out today to get my laptop and I find it floating in a 4 inch puddle in the trunk of my car!

I have already blown out the drains near the seat belts (last week), they are clear. Where are other drains? None of the molding are ripped or torn. Where do I look?

What was leaking in your car and what did you do to fix it. Any anybody got a laptop cheep

 

If you are getting water in the trunk and if your drains are clear, the only other reasonable possibility is that the rain rail is cracked. You will have to pull the top to fix it.

One thing to try is to pop the trunk and run a hose (slowly so the gutter in the trunk can handle it with the trunk open) over the car with the top up. At least you should be able to see where it is leaking in.

 

Stein is right. Your rain rail must be fuct. You may not need to completely remove the top to fix it though. Mine wasn't riveted on when I swapped tops a while back.

 

Those the only two drains??

 

Look under the sides of the car, by the jack up spots. There are drain holes down there and they get clogged over the years. I took a dremel to mine years ago and couldn't believe the amount of water that came out. Then the 2 behind the seat belt pillars which you say you already did. And last is the rain rail IIRC.

Its a common problem to end up with water in your rocker panels. There are drain holes that sometimes get clogged which you need to check periodically and keep clear. Check where the jack hooks to the frame rail. (You can find it in you owners manual if your not sure.) Each side of where the jack hits the frame rail is where the drain holes for the rocker panel are located. There is a front and rear location for the jack. Use an open paper clip and wiggle it around until the drain unclogs."

I'm not sure if this could let water into the car and soak the rug, but I recommend checking them anyway. Like I said, I couldn't believe the amount of water that came out when I cleaned mine a couple years back.

If you have a top that's been replaced before you are correct. I've done three and all were riveted, but on the instructions with my kits, they said it wasn't required. I re-riveted anyway.

 

The M.net garage is worth the price of admission - loss of brain cells - of the forum. The writeups on installing a top are better than any of the "instuctions" supplied with a top.

Mine leaks and wets the trunk. The car manufactures mold at a tremendous rate. I'm guessing it's the drip rail for the top. I'm guessing the top was replaced on mine, too, because it is tan canvas and not vinyl.
