Default rate my disk & plate: rx lsd

I picked up this rx lsd on ebay fully expecting to replace the disks and plates. Now that it's apart, it looks to me as though they've hardly ever been engaged. I haven't seen new ones, but figured somebody here has. What do you think? Any recommendations on shimming for preload? thx-rob

Man, I just rebuilt one to go in my car, but I can't remember how they looked in comparison. Those sure don't look worn much. Did you try moving the axles by hand before you disassembled it to see if it was locking much?

This was just the diff - no case. It was a big axle from a first gen so I just assumed it was worn. But there's no marks on any of the disks/plates. No heat signs, nothing. It doesn't look like it was ever locked up. This thing was in such good shape, I actually emailed the seller to ask if it was use or not. Said it had 70k on it. What did you do to yours? Did you shim it for more preload?

No, I pretty much rebuilt it by the book. Stock number of spacers/friction plates.

Before the rebuild I was able to turn the axles in opposite directions. Not so, after the rebuild.

Ok. Some guys on m.net posted the specs at 2mm for thickness. I'll check it.
Found same info and good pics on rx7club.com.
