Be careful of sucking oil mist through the vacuum cleaner, you might create a fuel-air bomb.
The oil pump has a little allen plug in its side, on the pax side, pointing up at a 45* angle. You can prime the oil pump this way. I pulled that and poured thin oil down there, followed by thicker oil. (During assembly, you should fill the oil pump with thick assembly oil, NOT grease!) I then turned the crankshaft bolt with my 19.2V drill, with the timing belt disconnected (you have to make sure no intake valves aren't wide open if you have a VVT head and Supertech cams, they will touch!). Result: oil flow! I kept going until the farting sounds in the head from air bubbles ceased. When I started the engine later, I had instant oil pressure too. |
Or use an air tank with a bunch of adapters and a shut off valve. Once you clean it out, pour your oil (I forget how much the stock engine takes, I had to use 8 quarts in my system) into it, and fill it up with 60psi of pressure. Now hook it to your turbo feed line and let it rip. When you feel it start to get light, shut it off so you don't fill the system with air again. If you have the ign on and the oil pressure gauge works (I hope it does....), it'll read 50-60psi. My setup cost around 75-100 to build after it was all said and done. It also works great to run old oil through a filter before dumping it in the tractors fuel tank.......

I think it was because I just linked to this thread in my build post.

you can thank me for my incredible search skills and giving the link to Shuiend. I pulled it up within :45 seconds.

This method didn't work for me. It is for lugers.
Instead, I used my commercial vacuum pump that I commonly evacuate A/C systems with. Hooked it up to the turbo oil feeed, and after about 10 seconds I had oil coming out. |
i told him to just suck through his oil feed with his mouth... I'd do it.

If I honestly have to drive 30 minutes to help prime your oil pump cause you're too lazy to be creative, I'll punch you and steal your mt.net shirts back.
