Default Recognize the 2001-2005 block?

Yo, picking up an engine this afternoon. It's said to be a 2004 1.8 bp. Which is the s-vt or vvt block.

Is there any way to recognize it besides from the head?

Thnx. Never worked on an nb

NB blocks are the same. Head is different on 01-05.

If you're looking at a bare block the thrust bearing surface will be larger on an NB2 block.

Ty guys, just picked it up. The guy was super nice. Jeez he knew a lot about mx5's.

Got the engine and wiring harness for € 450,-
Does not include flywheel, clutch, coils, alternator and stuff but we don't need those right!

You didn't get a block, you got a whole engine.

A whole engine that is very obviously a VVT engine.
