To this day I regret flipping a 92 silver Miata w/ a hardtop with about 60k miles. It was a perfectly fine Miata. I managed to get for 1.5k. Sold for 4k

The car was REALLY clean. Especially for a car that lived most of its life in Hawaii. Probably cleaner then my blue Miata in the background lol. I wish I really got into tearing apart BP motors and etc, I would of kept it for a side project.

The worst part was... The new owner crashed and totaled the car probably 2 months afterwards.... The hardtop died with the car...

Ive been a Miata owner since 2002.. driven many, worked on tons as well. But I’ve never sold one. Still have my totaled ‘97 chassis, and my runner is a ‘95.

Totaled my first Miata as a 21 year old after 4 days of ownership. I have the 2nd one for 9 years now and don't plan on ever selling it if life doesn't get in the way.
With that being said, a good NB here is the equivalent of $20k usd so not really in a position to play with multiple toys.

That really is a beautifully clean NA. Sorry to hear about its demise. The hardtop looks sooo nice. I love mine, and it's really nowhere near that clean.

I have sold 2 that I don't regret, but I still own 2 miatas which is 1 too many (have to get rid of the X prepared racecar... I don't even own a tow rig any more!).

But I'm planning to never sell "Miles", the 10AE that I've owned since new, even though it gets limited exercise these days. So yeah, it's not always rational and that's OK... if your budget allows for the sentiment.

PS: The car I *really* regret getting away was my grandfather's cherry '61 T-Bird which my family sold upon his passing, just a couple years before I got my license....sorry, personal foul for this bboard, no miata or turbo involved

That's a shame about the Thunderbird. Especially with the connection to your Grandfather.

I sold a '95 turboed R roughly 8 years ago. That car taught me most of what I learned about wrenching and now I'm back after 8 years of having no miata. If you truly need the money, do what you have to do. If it's your hobby and outlet, keep it. I miss mine dearly.

I've bought and sold maybe 30 Miatas, some of which were race cars. I don't regret selling any but I miss a few
1. 91, completely stock B package. Slightly faded paint, matching hard top, fresh and curiously strong engine. Everything worked, was a gem to drive. Paid like $2k for it in 2009. Loaned to friend and was crashed.
2. 95R package known as Deviate. Paid $700 for running, complete 95 R package in 2006. Faded, a few dings but hella strong. Dropped a forged NB2 engine in, cleaned up a little, painted our signature 949 Racing Orange. Later got a C30-74 Rotrex for 300whp. That version was engine perfection and I still miss it.
3. 91, built into S1 race car. 220whp, winged perfection. Named Bullet. Best handling Miata I have ever driven. Just the right amount of power, brakes, gearing, aero. Comfy and stupid fast. Threw some ghetto time attack aero on it, turned up the boost and won Super Lap Battle Unlimited RWD in 2017.

Bullet in S1 trim
