hello so bought a used na few months back, had no reverse lights..check the bulb, wasnt that. so went and bought the switch. replaced it and ive noticed in fifth gear while accelerating the reverse lights are on. i got under the vehicle and crossed them back, thinking i didnt put the wires the right way. but then again the light is on in fifth, so i went to the shop got the car in the air, crossed the wires again and with the car off in reverse the lights light up and fifth gear doesnt light up, but when car is running it lights up no matter what in fifth. what the heck ?? noticed only while pressing gas pedal the light comes on if i let off it goes out.. anyone came across this issue?? if anything im just going to remove the dang switch.

 

sounds like you swapped the reverse lights with the neutral safety switch.

Just swap the two switches around. You have the right switch, it's just in the wrong hole.
