Banks Power iDash for my 99
Hello,
Wanted to share my experience on this gauge as it seems not a lot have tried this option. Banks Power is primarily a diesel and truck R&D facility, but their iDash is a universal CAN and OBDII based gauge. I personally have a MSPNP2 and the gauge does in fact support Megasquirt ECUs (requires MS2/Extra 3.4.0 or later, or MS3 1.4.0 or later firmware). The thing I really liked about this gauge is it's ability to have only 1 gauge display multiple parameters rather than having multiple gauges displaying a single parameter. Not 100% sure, but at a glance everything I can view in Tunerstudio is able to be sent to the iDash. I can display up to 8 parameters on the screen and might be able to have multiple pages (haven't looked into it too much because I don't need that many). Doesn't seem to have glare either which is one point they like to point out to you. Install was very easy, necessary wires are power, ground, and CAN high/CAN low off the Megasquirt. I also used the switched 12V pin on the Megasquirt for power. After wiring all that was necessary was to go into the iDash settings to have it read the Megasquirt, and enable the CAN parameters in Tunerstudio. You can change the colors too!
All in all, it's nice to have all info on one gauge, but it does come at a higher price (~$260) than for say a water temp gauge, but I was able to justify it for myself. Here's a picture of it sitting in my vent.
