I read somewhere a while ago that you shouldn't powder coat wheels because if they crack it won't show. I think it was some track rule or something that they would not allow people to run powder coated wheels. Not sure how true that is though, I just remember reading it.

Plus PCing is expensive and heavy. Rattle can and clear, otherwise flat black is baller on slips.

yeah i think i'll end up getting some of that duplicolor wheel paint and paint the stock ones because i just got some new bfgoodrich ta's on them and they aren't wearing a bit

I used rustoleum on the bronze wheels and it was OK. The duplicolor high temp engine paint is the best though. That stuff goes on super thick, and looks great. Be sure to spray very thin coats.

Ah thanks. I just looked it up, hopefully he decides to make more lips in the future

But yeah I had slipstreams on my Prelude, awesome rims for an affordable price. Pretty light as well.

That all depends on the paint you use. If you're using Krylon black primer sure people are going to point and laugh at you. If you use a decent paint then you'd have to look pretty close to see that it's not a factory job. Especially if you give it a good color sand and polish.

Krylon flat black + krylon gloss black actually look really nice, and hold up to the outdoor weather really well

That's a hot car. I originally glanced over Slipstreams in my wheel search but you have changed my opinion on them and Miatas.

very nice! gotta love them slipstreams! low weight, strong structure... perfect for the track =)
