I read somewhere a while ago that you shouldn't powder coat wheels because if they crack it won't show. I think it was some track rule or something that they would not allow people to run powder coated wheels. Not sure how true that is though, I just remember reading it.

Plus PCing is expensive and heavy. Rattle can and clear, otherwise flat black is baller on slips.

That all depends on the paint you use. If you're using Krylon black primer sure people are going to point and laugh at you. If you use a decent paint then you'd have to look pretty close to see that it's not a factory job. Especially if you give it a good color sand and polish.
