Isnt that still more than it costs from walmart?

Handsome Greg 01-31-2014 10:23 PM

My powerstroke uses 4 gallons of that stuff every 5K oilchange. It seems to not shear down as much as conventional. The HEUI system pressurizes the crap out of the oil, and charges the injectors with it. It moves something like 25 gallons a minute at 75mph... So it goes into my car, my truck and my fourwheeler.

I'd pay a premium to never go in a Wal-Mart again.

I suppose so, I checked and Wal-Mart is $21.36 supposedly. Either or its just info.
Goodluck getting a good filter there or leaving within 5 min though.
Then dealing with the sight of those there.. then the quirky dumb comment of the cashier that you're buying diesel oil.
Plus buying other car parts.
Supporting a company that supports its workers not offers a fundraiser.
To each his own though, thanks for the info I didn't know Walmart was selling that low.

Yeah still more than wal mart. Once I found out you could enter near the automotive oil change mechanic whatever the fuck you want to call the service part of the local wal mart and pay for oil there in less than 5 minute,I just go tit there. It was on the way to where I keep my car so no big waste of time.

Why T6 in your Powerstroke over Mobil 1 TDT? I do 10k oil changes on my Jetta TDI with no unusual results after a Blackstone study on the oil. TDT is amazing stuff, expensive sure, but it is the only oil that will last a full 10k oil change interval without degrading before-hand.

I might just pick up a couple more gallons of T6 to keep in reserve for the Miata but I already have 2 gallons of it sitting in the garage...going broke saving money.

Man, those TDIs are cool.

I change at 5K because of particulate loading for the most part- 6.0 injectors are prone to 'stiction' and are quite finicky.

I could go the bypass filter route and stretch the intervals out to 10-15K, but I've not bothered.

Just picked up a gallon for $21.00 at Autozone too. Good stuff.

sixshooter 02-01-2014 10:27 AM

It has been $27 at Advance Auto, so i'll get some from oreally's today.

sixshooter 02-01-2014 11:15 AM

Still $27.99 at O'Reilly's or autozone and advance according to their web sites for local pricing here.

Boris 02-01-2014 11:30 AM

Just picked up a gal at Napa for $29. We never get the good prices down here.

mgeoffriau 02-01-2014 01:01 PM

I'm tempted but I still have 6 full jugs of T6 plus 2 boxes of M1.

The website may not if been updated but when you ring it up it should be on sale.
I loved the rebate system Rotella had as well but they've gone away with that.

M.Adamovits 02-01-2014 01:43 PM

I never want to hear anyone complain about spending $27 for T6.

North of the border it's ~$46 per jug. Maybe $35 on sale.

I usually buy it in the states when I'm down, sometimes you're stuck though.

sixshooter 02-01-2014 02:01 PM

NAPA is always high on every single part. They suck and I never use them.

This. Every time I'm forced to shop there(I.E too lazy to drive farther) I always feel like I got slightly raped on the price of the item. Especially detailing/cleaning chemicals.
They always want like $10 more for a VW filter than vatozone.

They give commercial accounts good prices but purposefully screw the walk in customers because they don't want them there. It has to do with their corporate focus on businesses.

Impuls 02-01-2014 04:22 PM

Napa is 75-80% commercial and then retail if they feel like it. They really could care less about retail side in some respect.

I like how the guy is laughing that someone complains about paying $27 when it's $46 for him when at the start y'all where containing about .75¢ difference because Walmart.

I'll pay $5 more just to avoid having to walk through Walmart. It takes twice as long to shop when at Walmart since walking around takes so damn long. Yes. I'm lazy like that.

Particulate clogging is that bad on power strokes??? Wow. That makes me twice as happy I gutted the 50+ lbs of DPF/EGR/ammonia/NOx traps. The car runs so much better and no more god damn "regens" where the motor injects diesel into the particulate filter and does a burn off of particulate build up. It really affects your MPG. I laugh that I gained 5 MPG and 90+ TQ on a tune. I love diesels. I would love to transplant my Common Rail 2.0 diesel engine from my Jetta into my Miata some day. With the Audi Q7 turbo hooked up they make 400+ TQ.
