Default S2000 Antenna

Has anybody found a mod or self-modded their antenna to something more like the S2000 antenna? I recently suffered a bend in my power antenna and would like to make a change if possible.

Mostly, I want to know who did it and if their radio quality changed? I've seen maybe 2 posts mentioning it.

This was on the first page of a google image search for S2000 Antenna:

Looks great on there. I think I will order one right now. It's got to work better than the manually retractable bent one I have on there now. (thanks to ******** in parking lots who think it's cool to play with the antenna on somebody's car)

More research - apparently the Honda Element antenna is the same thing but doesn't have the bulging tip on it. (ahem) And also the Civic SI from earlier 2000's is the same as the Element, apparently.

I think I may just walk into Honda and ask for an Element antenna.

Heard some more chatter about the S2000 look-a-likes sucking.

Interesting. The upside is, it comes with mounting hardware, according to the write-up. Might be worth it, then just get an s2000 antenna and switch it out?

That defeats the purpose if you actually want to listen to the radio, though.

I got an "S2000 Style" antenna. My reception dropped, but it looks better imo.

i just bought an authentic s2000 antenna from ebay, about $50 cheaper than the dealership, from a dealer posting online...so we'll see how it goes.

Lose it altogether like kotomile and get a hidden antenna. Powered by the usual radio output for raising a mast antenna, but powers a coil for better reception. Hide it anywhere in the car. Mine is gone, and I used a chrome blockoff cap/plug from Ace Hardware for all of 99 cents...looks better than you might think and worlds cleaner than having an antenna back there.

$50 cheaper? Oh my... A thread I found said the dealers were marking them up pretty high.

Care to post a link to the ebay ad you found?

It's the only picture I have where the antenna is visible, sorry. I'll go get a better one after I get off my ***.

It's no biggie, if I get real close I can see it.
