Sealing PCV port without welding?

Hopefully this isn't too dumb of a question.

I was reading back through an old thread on catch cans, saying the 1.8 design will dump oil through the PCV in hard left turns on the track.

I'm definitely seeing this effect, and I wanted to try the proposed solution of capping off the PCV port and running a catch can to the driver's side.

How are people sealing off the PCV port? I saw someone say he got it welded - I'd like to not permanently alter the valve cover if possible.

RTV a plug in place or something? Seems like anything else might turn into a missile.

Get a PCV valve and a rubber cap plug the right size.

OK, easy enough. I just wanted to verify that would stay put. Thanks!

If it doesn't stay put you likely have bigger problems. With a vent to the other side open or through a catch can there should be no significant pressure in the crankcase at any time.

That makes total sense. This was a dumb question in retrospect. Thanks again for the help.

I cut the threads off a stock sized wheel stud I pressed out of some hubs and pressed the splined part into the rubber gromit the pcv goes into, its a perfect fit.

Glad to see that you came to a real site. With real information.

Install a mishimoto sealed catch can between the PCV and IM

This doesn't help if oil is pouring out of the PCV side.

The pcv is esential to make the drivers side breather work , take a look at my post # 116 Here

How big is the can? You can suck out about a quart in 1 lap if you have tires for men.

The misimoto can is not large enough for what you are talking about but a larger can can be istalled, it would probably be best to install the pcv valve on the hose berween the im and the can, right on the can top with the oem grommet if using a larger can so you dont pressurize and put full vacuum on it.
