I recently found some light fraying appearing in the drivers seat of my 99. I was wondering if it would be possible to remove both seats, switch the runners, and have the basically new passenger seat mounted to the drivers side runners?


Any ideas? I'd like to not buy a new seat, and I have yet to see any clean, nice, simple, seat covers for the miata.

I would just try it myself, but seeing as it finally hit the 70's here in PA, I'd rather be driving than tearing apart the interior on a hunch.

 

The little lever to recline it is not attached to the rails but to the actual seat. So no.

You might be able to get away with switching the cloth/cover (whatever its called) between the two though.

 

FFFFUUUU....... Well I guess I'm in the market for a new seat, I'm not interested in messing around with 10 year old fabric.

 

Fabric is only available in "velour" from what I found. I also found vinyl, with cloth inserts (seat and back) and of course, leather.

Cloth is about $275. Vinyl/cloth is about $325. Leather $575 or so. I'm buying ebay seats.

 

lol yeah its pretty failaids. I called the stealer just to humor myself, they quoted me something like 350 covers for 1 01 seat. I laughed and hung up.
