Default Seem welding?

So not too long ago i was reading an article about a miata being built for tack racing. One of the things they talked about was seam welding the whole car. They said that if you seam weld the whole miata that handling will greatly be improved. I want to know if anyone here has done this and are the benefits worth the work. I plan this April to strip my whole car down so it would be a good time for me to do something like this. The car is going to go on a car rotisserie to sand blast the whole thing. I also plan to have a friend come by and build me a cage.

So what do you guys think???

There's a guy on here with a red miata and a lotus diffuser that did his. I cant remember his name, but hopefully he'll chime in. I've been curious about this as well.

I'm probably doing the door to windshield frame to door giant seam. I can see that being of particular benefit and it's really easy to get at.

I wouldn't say that 'really easy to get at' is a good description. You have to remember that you will be welding all over the area. Dropping sparks all down in the interior... I caught stuff on fire and I had no dash, no interior, no wiring harness, and a lot paint not there.

Correct, and he stitch welded 1" weld 2" space which is what I will also be doing because of the high praises and I don't have to add more bracing.

I did this around the door sills only so far and I already notice a difference. I can open the doors without binding when the car is jacked up from one corner. I'll be doing the rest of that seam when it gets warmer

Love those bed sheets.

Did you plan on doing the spaces in between the tacks?
