Should I buy or have I smoked too much crack?

Going to look at it on Tuesday.

Dont know much about it other than it runs and needs a clutch.

Depends on how much. For $1500 (or less)? Sure, why not. For $2000 or more? No.

Front suspension mounts look weak. LOL at the cheap "strut brace". General fit and finish looks sloppy. Do you want to trust your life to someone who does sloppy work?

Braineack 03-26-2013 08:12 AM

how is that a brace when it has pivot points to prevent it from preventing flex?

that thing is the definition of: not sexy

IcantDo55 03-26-2013 09:04 AM

Not Sexy at all, more like a redneck atom. Looks like too much fun to pass up for $750, in running condition. Shit worst case scenario I have another 1.6 drive train around.

Ok VA residents.... What does it need to pass inspection? Windshield? It obviously has no Vin tag... Just install the one fron the donor car?

..... All the questions...

18psi 03-26-2013 09:14 AM

Not sure about this. Needs moar pics

Efini~FC3S 03-26-2013 09:59 AM

Looks ghetto as hell.

BUT, if it was local to me and only $750, I would seriously consider...

Erat 03-26-2013 10:46 AM

For $750 i guess....

But that is a good example of sloppy "IDGAF" work. Honestly, i bet you a prepped regular miata would faster, and more fun to drive than that thing.

I have a feeling this might be the thing that kills it's drivers.

For $750 I would jump on it and enjoy. All the locost frames alone I have seen for sale have been between $750-1000. Even if it turns out not to be the greatest you could probably part it out for more then what you paid for it.

pretty much. most of my errors stem from my reliance on firefox's built in spell check, but when I'm at work, I use IE and it doesn't have such fancy things. But I try to edit posts to clean up. Also when I post on my phone, I don't even try. But I'm the admin, so fuck you.

Ironically it's the same $30 ebay brace I have on the front of my Miata. In stock form, it damped the 65mph shimmy until I replaced other suspension components. I wouldn't trust it to do much of anything the way this guy used it.

Ditto.

Was nice knowing ya. Hope your life insurance is paid up.

Homemade control arms splatter-welded together out of undersized components and with strange geometries? Sure. What is the worst that could happen? I bet the frame isn't splattered together with that little attention to detail and precision.

Enginerd 03-27-2013 07:40 AM

I would definitely not trust that ball of weld in the fourth picture to save my life. Wow. That's scary.

Erat 03-27-2013 07:42 AM

Is this where we point out all what's wrong with it?

When i look at that control arm setup, it looks as if it would go into positive camber when compressed. Control arms are attached to i guess the frame by some itty bitty pieces of 1/8"th tabs. Welded with what looks to be a HF fluxcore welder, done by a 3rd grader. I wouldn't take that above 40mph. 4 point roll bar?? The coller on the coilover is supposed to be jammed into the other one right? Looks like it's just sitting in limbo. lol
