I wonder if there'd be any benefit to boring out the stock part and putting a nice stainless sleeve in there.

The failures I have seen has been the steel rod deforming the aluminum piston. This is with a clutchmasters stage 3 KIT.

What if we machined a SS piston, or a SS seat to spread the load across the piston surface. This would eliminate the the piston damage.

Sounds like a sound theory... but wouldn't there be enough variation between OE parts and various aftermarket units such that this would be difficult to prove conclusively? They couldn't all be using the same inferior castings, right?

My fluid is black, thought the resoviour was just dirty. WRONG. I guess I'll be doing this shortly :bang:

castings = crap for sealing surfaces... even when honed and polished they are far from ideal. on the bright side the more times you rebuild it the more seal material get's worn into the voids. Eventually the bore will smooth out, but it may take 10-15 rebuilds to finally get it good enough to last.

'bout what I thought...just easy to check since we're talking about it before I'm under the car.
