Which slim fans?
What kinda slim fans is everyone running on their big radiators? I'm about to put my Koyo back in and need to free up some space. I was thinking just 2 12"ers from Ebay. Any input is greatly appreciated.

I know some people are using the fans from siliconeintakes.com

Don't waste your money on the egay fans if you are having cooling problems. (don't ask me how I know):noob:
I picked up 2 12" Spal 2260 cfm fans from the Swap meet here. Built an aluminum shroud & used a couple of adjustable relay/thermostats. Now I don't have any cooling on 100* + days with the A/C on. I have not tracked this car though. I have my brothers spec miata for the track |
I run a pair of the siliconeintakes fans and they do fine. I am not running any shrouding because I don't see the need considering that the fans cover a pretty good portion of the radiator. Also, it seems to me that shrouding could impede some flow out the back of the rad especially when the fans are off, which is most of the time when you have a reroute and a big radiator.
The fans come with those pull-through plastic mounting ties but somehow I don't trust those things standing the test of time in a car that sees track use. I cut/bent/drilled up some brackets out of aluminum bar stock so the fans are secured with bolts into the bosses on the radiator. |
nearly blew my old jeep up with them egay fans. Weak as hell and a waste of money. from memory it was rated at 3000cfm and was somewhat decent price, not the extremely cheap bs..

I've been running the Mishimoto fans on my radiator with no problems. I just finally got my turbo done last week and have still seen higher than normal temps.

I was running a set of the siliconeintakes fans. They work great and clear my FM sway bar. Also made my own shroud out of a sheet of plexi. Mounted them with the provided brackets. No ill results regarding temps.

Ive seen awesome ebay fans and shitty ones.

airflow > shroud
I have "silicone intakes"...in a box. |
Doppel's got that awesome aftermarket frontend, which has to help with airflow. Looks like it has twice the frontal area exposed to high pressure than the stock NB nose.
|
You selling them hustler? So the "silicone intakes" fans are looking to be what I'll go with as they are pretty cheap and I need some couplers. Thanks so much everyone.

i am running ebay ones from "pro comp" or "procomp" i cant remember exactly. get the curved-blade ones.
i originally had a single 14" puller but i swapped it out for (2) 10" pushers recently (needed space after trans conversion). the single 14" seemed to pull more air than the (2) 10's, we'll see how the 10's do in the summer. i still have the single 14 lying around... |

Ordered silicone intakes fans last night. Thanks guys!

I have the Siliconeintakes fans too. Got them after I had clearance problems on OEM fan assembly between the CXRacing radiator and FM throttle body elbow.
