Default Snagged a new TEC2 from FM for $500

FM's deal of the day was a new old stock TEC2 for $500. I could not pass it up... I tried, but I just could not do it. So I will be ditching the EMU and running the TEC2 in Parallel mode.... I have to start collecting parts now. Need to find or make a mounting system for the timing wheel and magnetic sensor...

Should be fun.

It'd be cool to keep the list updated on what it takes and costs to get it up and running. One of the things mentioned in the thread that was posted here, was just what the total cost would be to complete it. I think it's a deal regardless- figure I've got about $800 in my Link now.

I have the crank wheel and sensor mount for a M2 that I bought from y8s with a TEC3 a few weeks ago, but I am installing on my '90. I can take dimesions and make drawings for you if you wish. The sensor mount is common for all cars, but I am having to modify the wheel mount for my car. I also have all the sensors if you need any part numbers or anything like that.

Do you have a good machine shop locally that could copy it? I would be glad to compensate you for your trouble.... Do you know where J8s got his from? If the machinist is out of the question, then drawings would be great. Any help is appreciated.

Did you get a good deal on the TEC3? That is a great system, when are you going to get it installed?

I am an engineer and work for a custom machine builder. I can get it done, but I don't know what it would cost, but I can check. They are the original vishnu mounts. I will definately make drawings though in case I go to a '99 motor in the future.

I think so. https://www.miataturbo.net/forums/showthread.php?t=5491

I am going to start the install this weekend, but I don't have my crank wheel mount modified yet. I have access to all of the equipment, but I am not a machinist unfortunately. I have one of the guys at the shop that is going to do it after hours for me next week hopefully. I am probably going to enroll in a machine shop class next semester so I can start to take advantage of the equipment I have access to.

FM Rocks!

I just got my TEC2. It came with the hub mount/adapter, sensor mount, 2 magnetic sensors. The hub and sensor mount was going to be an added expense, but now is not! So freaking cool. I love getting a deal.

Talk about underpromise and overdeliver! All this for $500 deal o the day! Thanks guys!

I guess you will not need me to measure mine for you now, huh? It is for a NB isn't it? If it happens to be for a 1.6, I'll trade you my NB mount and we'll both be in better shape. Pics of what it looks like?

I am away from the house for the holiday, so it will take a little bit before I can take a picture.

The hub adapter is about 3" in diameter, it has four resessed allen head bolt holes that attaches it to the crank. The wheel attaches with a single bolt in the center. In the center of the adapter is a hollowed out space for the big crank bolt, the center is solid at the top with a single threaded hole for the timing wheel.

It looks good. I am not sure if it is for a 1.6L or a 1.8L, but if it is for a 1.6L we have a swap deal! I am tempted to take it to a machine shop and have a second one made for some future project....

Funny I ordered the T3 manifold 1.8 from FM DOTD and haven't received it and they can't find it.

Congrats. I was gonna pick up that TecII. Posted the deal here in fact.
