Default start button question

So I really like the idea of having a start button in the car. But... I hate having a key. What I would like to do is remove the key out of the equasion. I want there to be a battery shut of on the roll bar or something like that and a start button.

Does anyone know how to do this? I'm sure its possible, but I was just wondering if anyone has done this/ cares to share how? Thanks guys!

Take the ignition switch out or pull the plug and bypass it with an ignition switch of your choosing. The madracki diagrams are linked in my signature. Everything you need to know is there.

you can do it with relays and eliminate the ignition switch. That switch ultimately closes a connection so like Cjernigan said, just look at the pinouts and figure out which ones need to be closed and go from there.

Aren't you worried about someone just taking the car? BTW, you would also have to disable the steering wheel lock.

If you search on miata.net there is a good wiring diagram to wire in the relay. I used it to wire in mine, but I left they key in.

my manager did this on his shelby cobra. he got an alarm system and used the door lock/unlock feature to trigger a relay to switch on all the electronics so he just hits to button on the approach, hits the start button on the dash, and off he goes. it has an additional feature too. If he gets car jacked he can just wait for them to get a block away and his the "lock" button to kill the car.

You'll need the wiring diagram, a 3 position toggle switch (off, acc, run), 2 solenoids, a handful of relays, and a momentary button. You'll also need to disable the steering lock.

For me, there is no need for accessory. Its a race car and has no stereo the only thing really electrical that needs to be able to turn on before the car actually starts up is my Link, I figured I could wire it so whenever the battery switch is on, then it could be on, and then have the start button (will this shut the car off also?). Looking at a switch from an S2000.
