Default Finally taking the ms plunge with my mazdaspeed after nearly 4 years

Well, I've commmited myself to buy a mspnp pro this week. I've avoided bothering with an ecu for my mazdaspeed for nearly four years , I think partially because I had such a shitty experience with hydra many years ago, but also because I had convinced myself that in order to make any real power with the car I'd have to swap it and buying power mods for a platform I would be replacing is dumb. Looks like I'll be sticking with the power plant in the car now! I've been pretty absent as a result of my aversion to tuning the car as it sits, but I imagine (and hope) I'll be spending a lot more time on the forums again very soon

More than likely I'll get the car up and running with the stock injectors and fuel pump, mess with getting things dialed in driveability wise over the rest of fall and winter, then upgrade the fuel system in the spring and turn the boost up a bit on the stock turbo ststem (with FM little enchilada), before deciding whether or not I want to go forward with replacing the factory turbo stuff with more entertaining bits.

Best decision ever.
I don't know how good 2.7 is, but 2.6 and older Hydra is absolutely garbage, and nothing like MS

Solid approach, it was night/day different car with MS3 vs stock ecu for me.

I was a very early adopter, ordered it within the first year it was available. I haven't bothered to mess with a standalone since. I recently bought a mazdaspeed 3 (gen 2) as a daily, and after getting the cobb accessport and an intake for it, it's considerably more responsive and I'd wager more fun to drive than the miata at this point... that HAD to be corrected, or the miata was going to sit even more than it does now.

Megasquirt is in hand! I have to go get an appropriate length of vacuum line so I can install and get things running. That said, I've managed to spend enough hours reading old threads to understand things sufficiently to break my brain for the moment. It's been eight years or so since I've really had to learn something complicated, so there's some mental reprogramming in order as well.

The learning curve on an MS/ecu for learning how to tune was like running face first into a brick wall. It all makes sense eventually, but man, did my car run like crap for a few weeks while I learned.

You are going to love it though. Every time I drive a stock miata I am dissapointed now in the way the engine responds.

I'm waiting to order my wideband before I do the install now, and I've managed to confuse myself a bit as to how to wire it as well. It'll be ordered tomorrow, and I'm sure I really just need to actually get out there and do the work and things won't be so confusing.

If you have the $, I’d advise getting injectors now, to kill off any worry high IDC%s while tuning. Plus, you’d have to retune everything from scratch in the spring anyway.

I did a Rev MS2E and ID725’s in my MSM, it’s added +307% awesome to the base car.

I don't plan on bothering to turn the boost up from wastegate pressure until I have larger injectors installed. The plan is to simply get things up and running safely now as I learn the software. Trust me, I'm itching to splurge on some id1000's!

You can run up to 9-10psi on the stock injectors without issue on that setup
