At the moment, given how much I've spent building up a 1.8 vs what it would have cost to freshen my still running 1.6 on the cheap, I'd vote keep the 1.6. My outcome is going to be great with the 1.8/9 2000 head, but the expense has been very large.

I'm as much of a 1.6L elitist here as anyone, but like most "clicks", we are only that way out of envy for people that are individuals, or smarter than us. If I had dropped the extra coin to put in a 1.8L from the get go I'd be much better off. I've told myself I can't go back now because my manifold is for a 1.6L, but I managed to buy another manifold last week...for a 1.6L. It's supposed to be an upgrade (turbo), but had I been smart I would have invested in 1.8L hardware, and started building a motor for what would eventually be a real upgrade. |
