Can anyone compare these two(T1-R in 215, G-force sport in 205)? Or anyone else used the T1-R in 215/45/15? I rarely hear of people running these. |
You have a 7 inch rim why are you totally disregarding the 225 for 10 psi and below it is the perfect width. Past that more tire is needed.
|
Are you wearing these tires out evenly? or wearing out the edges?
Maybe some more camber? |

And I am getting relatively even wear, with just a bit more on the inside, which I think may be the toe. I'm running icehawk's specs, so not all that aggressive. |
Odd just looked at the T1R secs and aparently they don' have reinforced sidewalls in 215/45/5 (which they did for a looong) time. Now to get that you'd want: 205/50R15 89V RD (RD=reinforced sidewalls) if you're going this route. BTW what 225's fit on 15's?

I dunno my bfg's where 75$ apeice from summit. i ran them NA for a good bit and loved them then aswell.
|
shiiiet speedF50.. you live in Malibu? of course you're gonna blow through tires. cuz if i lived ANYWHERE on the west side, i'd be up n down the canyons everyday.
the closest thing i gots is ACH. that said, i'm completely useless on the tires rec cuz i'm running around on bricks right now. :gay: |
Haha ya, you understand where my tires are going. It's amazing living out here, but damn does it use up gas/tires/every part of the car, especially when me and my friends all live in the canyons, not just by them.
And I was thinking, the BFG g-force sound very good, but I wonder how the t/a KDW's are? From what I can tell they have more grip than the g-force and won't wear that quickly (compared to azenis). The T1R is also still a good looking option, but I'm a bit worried about the feel of them, but with the re-enforced sidewall, they may be just right. But I was looking forward to a 215/45/15 on these mountain roads for grip on bad surfaces. So basically I've gotten nowhere. Can anyone compare and contrast these tires from experience? I really appreciate all of the opinions on these, but some experience with the said tires and their pros and cons would also be very much appreciated. |
hmmmmm try and find some 225/50/15 Hankook RS2's....thats what ima run next....cant be that much more then other sets...
|
The whole reason I am asking about other tires is that I can't get RS2 and Azeni type tires as I am wearing them out faster than I change oil. So I need to find a longer lasting tire, that is still fun (T1-R, BFG g force or t/a KDW).
|
ahhh I hear ya....g-force sports are not too bad....but driving hard on any tire will kill it fast.Ive gone through harder compound tires almost as fast as softs....they might last a lil longer i guess. but 400 treadwears die quick for me too :(......
|
SPTs are not that bad of a tire actually. they are a great daily driver tire, and the perfect drift tire as they last long enough and they grip a good amount.
they arent the best for grip though, thats for sure. |
try toyo proxy4 not as expensive as the T1-r and proforms good to me..
|
had a set of proxy 4's.....good for sliding. lots of sidewall flex.......loud. but will get the job done I guess..
|
Well I'm still stuck between the BFG and Toyo. Between the g-force sport and t/a kdw I think I would opt for the kdw as from talking to a rep at tire rack they sound like they are a bit noisier but have more overall grip. But the difference between those two seems to be minimal.
The Toyo T1-R on the other hand I am still unsure about. I can't figure out if they are a good responsive performance tire, or a squishy sidewall'd mess. I have seen just so many mixed reviews for these that I am a bit lost. Plus I don't know how much the reinforced sidewall model will differ from standard. And on the proxy 4's and ASX, I think those are a bit too far away from a performance tire for me, as I am looking for better treadwear, but not something quite that mundane. |
try the KDW's....had a set on the miata like...3 or 4 sets ago. Not a bad tire overall. and the wet grip is amazing(who cares I know:jerkit:). medium loudness decent grip, moderate sidewll flex(lasted a bit longer then the azenies)...personally I'd never buy them again. but then again I got a good dealer for tires now:bigtu:....forr the sake of curiosity wat kinda alignmint you running
|
T1R with reinforced is not squishy at all :-) (but again aparently this is only in 205/50/15 per prev post) But there are lots of good choices in the same price range. I'm loving the azenis - finally got on them hard and was pleasantly surprised at the grip and when they give (very predictable). If you've never run t1r's they're worth a shot - FYI: I only buy them when toyo has their bianual sale (buy 3 get one free). I'm also hearing good things about those hankock (sp?) tires that have almost an exact copy of the T1r tread pattern. You guys got me curios about the BFG's but these are more $ right ? FYI: On proxies both my friend and I ran 32/30psi Front and Rear respectively.
|
the thing is he is looking for a tire that will "last" longer then say.. Azenies or RS2's. KDW's are more expensive then Azenies so they are porbablly outta the question. G-force sports are a bit too much for the quality to be honest...I have been in this exact predicament before in the past so I know what Speed is going through...my only advice is dont go cheap cause you will kick yourself through the enitre set for how sucky grip they have.....thats the lesson I learned.
|
75 bucks a tire when i bought mine. they are 99 now though :td: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku 93 bucks from tire rack. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=0
Oh well i think i might rock some DR's next anyway. :dunno: |
ouch 93 a piece..... that should equak out to lik 460 or so mounted....thats a bit. I get Azenies for 300 and I get them mounted at some lil shop for like 20-30 bucks..........when ya kill tires fast you tend to find the best deal possible.
