I know I am jumping in a little late, but I would really really like a set of 3.636 gears too. If you have any information on an available set please let me know.

No problem. I just don't want the local guy to increase his prices but I figure he'll be glad to sell as many as he has and I'll be glad to buy as many as he has from him

Ok guys; since my car is finally running I figured it was time to keep my promise. I'm going to buy the first diff next Monday morning. If I can convince ($$$) any of the shop's mechanics to open it that same day we'll be able to know for sure whether these are 3.63 gears or not. Please take into account that Monday is going to be the 31st. I'll check on past threads and try to see who's on this list. I'll ask the store owner Monday how many sets he can come up with after I pay him for this first one so he can't then try to screw me by increasing the price. I'll try to make him lower his. We'll see. At that time we'll get organized and I'll post the list in the "first come, first served" order.

Wish me luck and cross your fingers. I already spoke with the co-owner of a local shipping company who consolidates cargo from Miami to here and he said he could also quote me the other way around. This way shipping to Miami would be really cheap. I still have to figure how to organize shipping from there to the different zip codes without paying through the nose.

Yes- and they're dealer available, but you're looking at $400+ to get them to the states. Mazcomp had them relisted but no date for availability.

Ok guys, I wanted to surprise you all and went to the store this afternoon to see if I could buy the first one today. I spoke with the owner, who btw has no clue and told me that the Miata diffs and those of the 626 were not compatible since the Miata was fwd, (see how much he knows). Since he did not know either what were 3.63 gearsets I just told him I would be back Monday morning with the 3.63 gearset I already got from mazmart. I figure once he sees it he may finally know wtf I'm trying to get. He insisted he could only sell me the pumpkins. I said that was fine and that I would take care of disassembling them.

In the meantime, I already located a bigger used Mazda parts store. I'll be visiting them also Monday morning.

FWIW, I reminded this ******* about the price and he said it was ok. I asked how many he had and he said that he knew he had 3 diffs for sure. I get the sense those parts are not as easily sold locally as I originally thought so I take it anyone I find is not going to be more expensive than the price I was originally quoted.

Here are some pics:

Sorry guys.

Guys, read my last post. THIS IS A 3.9 gearset.

I'm looking for 3.63 gearsets not the 3.9.

I don't think the 3.9s are worth the effort.

Loki I bought mine from mazmart. I was just trying to see if I could find some of the ones in past 626s locally but it looks like we're not going to have any luck. I'll keep searching.

One quick question for everyone; should I return this gearset? If so, I have to do it today.

Thanks,

Rafa

I doubt keeping it would be worth your time since they're available here, and not that big of difference from a 4.10.

mazda motorsports just relisted them but doesn't have a date for arrival- that is pending a mazda manufacturing date... iow they may never show up

Did you count the teeth on both the ring and pinion? Also do you know what year that came out of? The only years applicable are from 79-82.

Thanks for your effort.

The mechanic at my shop counted it first. My building's super after him and finally I myself just in case because I realized that there are some 3.3 gearsets to be had if I find an old B2000 mazda small truck.

The large one has 43 and the small one 11. Sorry guys. I'll keep looking but that will not be worth waiting for. I figure if I can find the 3.3 gearset I can send it to mazmart and see if they can reproduce it. That's the one I'm really interested in.
