Default Terrible in the rain

I really hate my car in the rain. My windows fog up so badly I can't see out of any window but the bottom half of the windshield.

I don't have A/C, too hot to run the heater, with the windows down the rain comes pouring inside, rain channels are clean. I tried splitting a rubber hose down the middle and putting it on the edge of the hardtop over the window, but the water still comes in.

I don't know what else to do. I don't like rain-x, but if that is the only thing I'll do it. I have also heard of putting a small amount of dish soap on the inside. Anyone in a similar situation?

Usually running the defroster on cold works for me, but lately I've been tempted to grab a set of those vented windows from MiataRoadster as well...

Get a second car for when it rains... your only option. I've tried every remedy you could think of and I've got the same problem... but we're a 3-car family.

Everybody needs a 4dr... keep the costs down and buy something old. I always wanted an early-model SHO.

I already have a 4 door for winter. 1988 Honda Accord. I can't afford to insure both the Miata and the Accord at the same time. Miata with just PLPD is $175 a month.

Has anyone tried to build a rain rail for the side windows on a hardtop? Cracking the windows helps a lot, but in just 3 minutes my whole left leg was soaked. If I could just keep the water out I would be fine.

yes the miata in the rain sucks, i wouldn't have pulled my a/c if i didn't have something else to drive, only thing you can really do is keep the inside windows clean, they do make anti-fog cleaners

No convertible car should be without a towel stuffed under the seat.

Seriously, have you guys ever considered fixing the A/C? I don't know about NA's, but on a NB you could put any size IC in the front IF you moved the receiver/accumulator/drier thingy elsewhere. Lazzer did this. I mean is that just not an option or what? It sucks DD a car with no A/C.

Fog-X, from the makers of Rain-X. It's a checmical that comes in a little plastic bottle which you apply to the inside of all the glass in the car. I used this back when I was DD'ing a VW Beetle in FL, where you can bet we have fogging problems. Worked like a bloody miracle.

edit looks like they changed the name. Hopefully it's still the same stuff, as I need to find some now that I'm back in FL w/o AC.

ummmm isn't it usually CHEAPER to insure both since you get a multi-car discount? it was no more expensive for me to insure 3 cars than just the miata in CA. Call your agent. If he says no dice, try another company...

I don't get why people take out their a/c....... Up until this summer, i hadn't had a/c before.... but not because I took it out.
When i had no a/c , i just cracked the pax side window about 1/3 of the way and put the heater on low on defrost.

I already tried that. No company I called was any cheaper. I don't know if it's my area or that I'm 22. I have no points or tickets. If there is any company you know will work with me I would love to know. When I called around no one seemed to want to.

But are you guys with your parents or on a family plan? I'm on my own. I know I'm getting screwed, but no one else I called could do any better.
