Throttle bodies/manifold fitment
I'm running the FM spacer (facepalm) and recently installed a coolant reroute. My upper hose is constantly being pushed at an awkward angle by my intake. Now that I have MS, I wanted to slap a 1.8 TB on there and ditch the spacer. My question is: Do 94-97 TB's bolt up to a 99 manifold / is the throttle cable orientation the same? I lost the fuckin cable bracket that came with the 99 manifold, not sure if it matters.

All 1.8 TBs interchange, the desirable one is the '01+ throttle body because the IAC plumbing is all internal (no IAC air hose to worry about). The NA throttle cable is too long, but the NB cable bolts right up to the firewall/pedal and is the correct length.

Does this mean the NA cable wouldn't work at all with an NB TB? This is what I'm looking at and it looks like the 2 ports for coolant that my 1.6 TB has,(not sure if those are for IAC on this TB), but I could be wrong.

There is no additional plumbing needed on the NB throttle body. It pulls the air from the other side of the throttle plate instead of requiring an additional hose to be ran.
For example, this is a 94-97 throttle body, notice the large port at the top of this picture that is used for the IAC. http://cdn1.iofferphoto.com/img/item...3/213/LtPF.jpg Small picture, but this is all I can find right now. Resurrection of dead thread: I don't feel like pulling my TB off to test this, if one of you possibly already knows the answer to this:
99 manifold, 94-97 TB, no FM spacer, will the 1.6 throttle cable work? I have the bracket from the 99 manifold, and the FM bracket for a 1.8 swap, so I could use either one. I'm guessing but do I also need the NB cable for this? |

Alternatively, you can make an adapter out of a bit of aluminum, a file, and a drill.
http://www.boost-instruments.com/mia...bleadapter.jpg That's a 1996 IM/TB and a 1990 cable. The "adapter" is just a ~1"x1"x.25" piece of aluminum to move the 1990 bracket back and tilt it a bit. You can see the third hole, which if used moves the bracket straight back; instead it needed to be tilted a bit. It's pretty obvious. You will find out when you put it together what you need... |
Thats already on my car, i dont know if it will take up enough length once i take the tb spacer off

...and take special care to be sure the throttle cable won't melt, and stick open at 120mph going into a 40mph corner. Ask me how I know. Oh and by me, I mean "ask Matt Andrews if he wants to drive my car again!!!"

I don't think I'm gonna have melting throttle cables when theres no snail nearby to melt it. Guess thats good and bad. |
